Dr. Ritu Sood Disick began her doctorate studies at the University of California, where she graduated with a B.S. in Biology in 1997. She was thereafter accepted at Columbia University’s School of Dental and Oral Surgery in New York City, where she obtained her licensure as a D.D.S. in 2002. Her success in that program lead to an immediate offer from Palo Alto’s VA Hospital to participate in its intensive, advanced training residency program (academically known as a “G.P.R.”). Eager to begin her career, but cognizant of the incredible opportunity the offer represented, Dr. Sood postponed her calling as a practitioner in order to participate.
Following her completion of that G.P.R. program in 2003, Dr. Sood officially began her full-time practice of administering comprehensive dental care to a diverse spectrum of patients in San Francisco’s financial district. She would remain with the same practice for the next fifteen years as the primary associate within a fast-paced, upscale, state-of-the-art setting. While she experienced a tremendous amount of professional and personal growth over this time, the opportunity to start her own practice close to home in Walnut Creek was simply too good to pass up. In the summer of 2018, Dr. Sood purchased Treat Boulevard Dentistry's practice from its former owner, and has applied her experience, skill and personal touch to grow TDS into the success it has become today.
Despite the demands of clinical profession, Dr. Sood has always maintained a very close relationship with the academic world, and she attributes much of her professional achievements to keeping up with the latest advancements in her chosen profession. “Experience isn’t everything," she has said. "Adaptation, growth and continued learning are imperative if a Doctor wishes to provide the best care to to the patients under their care." To this end, Dr. Sood holds a faculty position at SPEAR, one of the world’s most prestigious continuing education communities, and she is a fixture at the organization's regularly-held collaborative, hands-on courses, meetings, and conferences. It should therefore come as no surprise that Dr. Sood consistently exceeds California's required number of continuing education hours every year by a considerable margin.
Dr. Sood's commitment to excellence comes from her profound appreciation for the extent to which a healthy dentition and beautiful smile improves a person’s confidence, comfort, and quality of life. That said, she also knows that each patient’s unique concerns and personal goals have a tremendous impact on how these quantifiers are defined. Dr. Sood ensures that her approach to providing dental care is shared by everyone who works at Treat Boulevard Dentistry, where we highlight the individual, and make certain that every patient's experience is as unique as he or she is.
